Students should receive the following escalating consequences for misusing the iPad:
What to do if a student doesn't bring his/her to class?
Follow the same procedures you would use as if a student didn't bring a required material to class. If this becomes a pattern please contact the parent about the importance of being prepared. Do not send a student out of class to address the issue.
- Establish clear and expected guidelines and rules regarding iPads in your class. These guidelines must be included in your course expectation sheet.
- Students should keep their iPads cases closed when not in use.
- Walk/teach all around the room to observe student work.
What to do if an iPad is being misused?
Students should receive the following escalating consequences for misusing the iPad:
- Teacher should tell student to close the case until you give directions otherwise
- Teacher has a discussion with student during or after class
- Teacher may take away iPad for part or all of the period BUT must return it at the end of class
- Teacher contacts parent/guardian to discuss appropriate use of iPad
- If misuse continues after contacting the parent, the teacher refers the student to a Dean.
