The Great Neck South High School Music Department will proudly present the opera Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium, 341 Lakeville Road. This production continues South High’s 55-year tradition of presenting a fully staged and costumed opera, accompanied by an orchestra. Students will perform with English supertitles.

Die Fledermaus is a lively operetta filled with mistaken identities, playful revenge, and sparkling melodies. Dr. Falke plots to embarrass his friend Eisenstein at a grand masked ball, where Eisenstein unwittingly flirts with his own disguised wife, Rosalinda. As the night unfolds with comedic twists and lively waltzes, secrets are revealed, and all is forgiven in a humorous finale. This high-spirited production brings the wit and charm of Strauss’s masterpiece to life on the South High School stage.

This opera is under the musical direction of Dr. Janine Robinson, vocal music teacher; conducted by Michael Schwartz, instrumental music teacher/performing arts department head; and directed by Robert Stivanello.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, and $10 for students and children. Tickets may be purchased in advance at https://cur8.com/26290/project/126349, or purchased at the door on the night of the performance. There will be open seating for both performances.
