Library Hours:
7:30am until 3:10pm, Monday through Friday  Appointments are available upon request. Please contact Mrs. White or Mrs. Russo for scheduling information.
After-school homework center hours:
3:10pm until 5:10pm, Monday through Thursday

Library Mission Statement

The Great Neck South High School Library's mission is to be the community hub for all the students and staff of  South High School.  In addition to connecting people to information, the library aspires to connect people to people by adhering to the following core principles:

  • Access to Information -  by providing equal access to information resources all students and staff can prepare to be lifelong learners and informed decision makers, while developing essential critical thinking skills. 

  • Promotion of Literacy - by providing access to diverse literature, reading platforms, and research resources, the library strives to develop a love of reading and the responsible use of information technologies. 

  • Collaboration and Innovation - the library staff routinely teams with teachers to integrate information literacy within the curriculum and share best teaching and learning practices.  It also provides a place for students to work with innovative technology and collaborative activities.

  • Multi-purpose Space - the library space is designed for multiple different dynamic uses, from providing a quiet study or reading space, access to collaborative tools, or the latest technology.
